MANASOTA ADVENTIST COMMUNITY SERVICES [MACS] ANNOUNCES TRANSITIONS IN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

Manasota Adventist Community Services announced today that Justin Vibbard will be stepping down as Executive Director.  “MACS has grown as an organization at an amazingly fast rate, and has become more than I can responsibly handle with my other obligations,” said outgoing Director Vibbard.  “MACS needs someone who can provide regular and consistent leadership at this juncture, as many of our programs are on the cusp of expansion, and that is something I cannot provide.”

“We are appreciative for Justin’s volunteer leadership since the inception of MACS, and have successfully identified an Interim Executive Director to replace him,” said Myron White, Board of Directors Chair.

Barbara Calvert has been named as Interim Executive Director.  Calvert, who has extensive experience in management and training, has been the Kitchen Manager for MACS’ Mobile Soup Kitchen since early 2011.  The Mobile Soup Kitchen, which started in October of 2010 under the leadership of Vibbard and Feeding Coordinator, Delco Rowley, has continued to provide more meals each week, and is looking to expand to a second location in the coming months.  The organization was recently able to acquire a cargo van to assist in this planned expansion.  MACS has also provided health classes and cooking classes to the greater Manasota community in recent months, in addition to offering disaster preparedness and response support to the community since early 2010.

“I am confident that Ms. Calvert will help us accomplish our mission to make the community a better place, and she has the board’s full support in this endeavor” said White, noting that Vibbard will continue to be involved in the organization.
